
USAC driver Shane Hmiel - WHO Received a lifetime ban from NASCAR back in 2005 after failing a drugs test - Was Said To Be in a critical condition to stable But on Saturday night, Following a nasty crash That occurred DURING the qualifying stage at Terre Haute.
According to a report by Ashley McCubbin over at bleacherreport.com, USAC Officials say That Hmiel somehow managed Thurs Flip in Turns Three and Four, bouncing the top of his roll cage off the wall. Initial reports claimed That was Hmiel Not responding at the scene.
Shane was then airlifted Thurs Indianapolis' Methodist Hospital, Where they was then placed in the Intensive Care Unit. An Update That Came at around 11pm EST, said Shane That was in an induced coma and was under going tests and Treatment.
Another update Came at around 2:30 am this morning (Sunday, October 10th), Which Said That Actually Shane was awake and moving his arms. HOWEVER, reports say That Hmiel has broken his neck in two places, and broken his back as well.
