Kellen Moore was named as the quarterback of the 67th Annual Football Writer's Association of America All-American team. Despite putting up outstanding numbers for a Top 10 team, this Comes as quite a shock considering the run of awards in Auburn That quarterback Cam Newton has Been is. Newton EE is to win the Heisman Trophy Saturday night as well.
Obviously Moore benefited from the Controversy Surrounding Newton's Eligibility But as a Finalist for the Davey O'Brien (Outstanding Quarterback), Maxwell (Outstanding Player) and Heisman awards, Moore has Been Recognized for his outstanding season Elsewhere too.
The junior from Prosser, Washington, finished 2nd in the country in pass efficiency on Leading most of the year. They HAD an outstanding 33 touchdown passes Thurs just five interceptions and completed 71% of his passes. Moore broke the school record for touchdown passes and passing yardage and Figures Thurs Those numbers put Far Out of Reach "when they Returns for his senior season.
Newton was named the 1st team quarterback of the AFCA and Walter Camp teams and now Moore Waits to see if they will be named to the Two Remaining All-American teams, Sports Illustrated and the AP. If so, they Will Become the first Bronco quarterback To Be A consensus All-American, by being named Thurs more than just one team.
It is assumed That Newton Honors Those will win as well considering his current state of DRM performances through 13 games this season. Character Concerns have forced Many in the media Thurs Re-Evaluate Newton as it relates Thurs These awards. Some make no MENTiON of character in Their criteria. Others, Including tonight's Heisman, highlight character and integrity as Key Components to the award.
Certainly there are no questions about Moore's character and they undoubtedly will be relieved to get the Heisman process over with, win or lose, and get back home Thurs Bowl Preparations continue. Congratulations Thurs Kellen Moore for this Recognition of his outstanding season.
