rickankiel2Flashback Ten Years and rookie Rick Ankiel was one of the most Promising you pitchers in baseball. Ankiel started 30 games for the St. Louis Cardinals, Had a 3.50 ERA and 194 K's in 175 innings. Then on Oct.. 3, 2000, his World Fell Apart.

Ankiel Had a Mental / Physical breakdown on the mound in Game 1 of the Cardinals' NLDS against the Braves throwing five wild pitches and walking six batters in 2 2 / 3 innings. The Cardinals advance and nine days later in NY, they Walked Three and threw two wild pitches in an NL Championship Series start against the Mets, never getting out of the 1st Inning.

In 2004, they was Able Thurs pitch 10 innings of relief for the Pennant-winning Cardinals, But a control issues in the spring of 2005 caused Ankiel Thurs retire.

WHO Ankiel was always a very good hitter for a pitcher, decided Thurs PURSUE a comeback as an outfielder. The odds are someone Becoming a major league pitcher are tough, the odds are Becoming a major league outfielder are tough, But the odds are Being Able To Make the Majors doing Both are insane.

Ankiel Had a knee injury derailing his 2006 campaign, Bout made it all the way back to the Majors is 2007. They homered in his first game back for the Cardinals for one of the great baseball feel-good stories of all time.
