MILITARY: Birthday Chow

Camp Pendleton troops Took time out for a steak and lobster Luncheon on Tuesday in honor of Wednesday's 235th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps. The feast was billed as a tribute to the sacrifices the troops make an each day. Camp Pendleton conducted Pageant and a traditional cake-cutting ceremony on Friday. The new Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. James Amos, HAS ISSUED his vision for the service, saying Hardship shared adversity and create a unique bond Between all Marines. "From the first day of recruit training, to first assignments, to first celebrations of the Marine Corps birthday, Each Marine is infused with an understanding of the Deeds of his or predecessors," Amos writes in the 14-page document That Can be read at nctimes.com. Local troops will begin a 96-hour holiday starting at noon on Wednesday in connection with Veterans Day.
