Winnipeg Couple Left Hotel in Mexico Only Hours Before Fatal Explosion

A Winnipeg couple was vacationing in the Grand Riviera Princess Hotel in Playa del Carmen and left the area Less Than 12 hours before an explosion hit the hotel on Sunday.
Seven People, Including a nine-year-old child from Canada and Four Other Canadians, were killed.

Winnipeggers Wendy and Dwayne Konrad Said They Were Shake by the News of the explosion.

"(It's) terrible. We were right there. That was Where was our complex," said Wendy Konrad.

In Addition Thurs Those Killed, Six Injured Canadians were in the blast, two of Them in critical condition, said the Canadian government Officials.

Wendy Konrad said the resort had occurred Many Canadians there and she is now upset and Worried about They made friends while on vacation at the resort.

"They're still there so you're thinking That May have something happened to Them," she said.

The Konrads said they're Shocked by the explosion at the resort, since it appeared in excellent shape DURING Their visit.

"Everything was meticulous. You Would not Believe The detail. I was very impressed," said Dwayne Konrad.

The couple said the explosion Will Not deter Them Thurs returning from Mexico next month.

Mexican Officials Believe The blast was caused on Natural Gas from a swamp close to the hotel built up under one of the hotel lobbies and somehow was Ignited.
