Breaking: There is a huge traffic jam right now between Reduit motorway toward Port Louis. From the first report, it is believed that the accident is between a passenger bus and a long vehicle Sugar truck. The accident is quite a serious one as the bus has fallen over the cliff on the Paille motorway.
Right now the SAMU ambulances and cops are trying to get the passengers out of the bus. The third emergency lane toward Port Louis is closed and is being used only by the SAMU take passengers Thurs Thurs Jeetoo Hospital in Port Louis.
Update 1 (08:00): Cliff is not the deep part of Paille. The truck crashed right into the passenger bus Which threw it right in the cliff. 5 Death + lots of people wounded as at right now. More bodies are thought to be under the truck.
Update 2: Witness says that the bus involved in the accident is a CNT 141 Henrietta Thurs Port Louis bus. Bus number is 113 JU 06
As at now (09:00) there is 4 dead and over 17 seriously wounded from the Paille Bus Accident. Confirmed: There were no children in the bus but over 50 workers going toward Port Louis. Witness says that truck came out of nowhere to Crash in the middle of the bus and nearly throwing it toward the cliff.
Rectification (09:30): Bus did not fall into cliff but was rather close to it. Truck was nearly over the bus when the emergency services reached the accident site.
Most of the passengers have received preliminary aid at the hospitals while 2 are really in a critical state due to multiple injuries. The CNT bus driver explained Thurs journalists today about these horrible few minutes.
The long vehicle involved in the accident Which killed 4 people and search resulted in over 40 wounded was a Constance Sugar Estate vehicle carrying about 18 tons of sugar. A spokesman for the Constance Sugar Estate explained that the truck was verified last Friday and everything was fine. Obviously (an with an i-dont-care tone), the businessman will Defend his company and care a damn about the lost of lives!
At first sight, the truck driver and the bus driver are not at fault. This accident is the result of the poor and CHEAP maintainance of the trucks of Constance Sugar Estate. So how will the law react to this? Apparently it should be a cover up by a "Bribe-Estate"! (Again!)
A black Friday 08/09/09 Which we will not forget so soon. My condolenses to all the family affected by this accident and specially to our dear blogger Priscus uncle's family who is one of the victims.
