Hidden Political Messages in 'Avatar'

On December 22, 2009, Stephen Lang, who plays Colonel Quaritch Miles in "Avatar" explained the so-called 'hidden messages' in the film during an interview with CNN. Since the movie was released on December 18, 2009, have Critics have compared "Avatar" to movies like "Dances with Wolves." The plot of "Avatar" has drawn attention for having what some call an anti-war stance and environmental message. On the day of the film's release, Fox News' James Pinkerton wrote a review about the film in an article titled "The Phenomenon, Politics and Art of Avatar." Pinkerton wrote:

''The Politics of "Avatar" are left-wing, anti-corporate and anti-imperialists. There are even some even some indirect digs at George W. Bush and Operation Iraqi Freedom. A Left-Leaning Hollywood movie: no surprise there. So Third Worlders will eat it up. The Iranians, for example, should love "Avatar" - if, of course, their government would let them see it, Which surely will not happen.''
There is a scene in "Avatar" where the Na'vi's (blue aliens) Ancestral home is destroyed. Sam Adams of the A.V. Club Blog writes:
"The movie's most seditious act Is to Evoke the specter of September 11, only with the terms reversed. The corporation's most villainous act, over F by a calmly sipping coffee-Lang, is the destruction of Hometree, the Na'vi's Ancestral Home and the root of their connection to Pandora. " They then goes on to say, "The resonance with the familiar images of Lower Manhattan is inescapable (although for once unremarked upon), except that here, the U.S. 'stand-ins are the perpetrators, and not the victims. Cameron's willingness to question The Sacred trauma of 9 / 11 is audacious, and his ability to do so in a $ 300 million tentpole movie is nothing short of shocking. If Avatar has a claim Thurs revolution, that is where it lies. "

During the CNN interview, Stephen Lang said the movie, Which is about Humans Invading the planet Pandora for minerals, is an "old story" and the "story of civilizations." He said "it's not exclusively an American story" but is about " strong people going and displacing indigenous people ... to get what their sitting on. "He compared the movie to the plight of the Native Americans.

"Avatar" Premiered on December 18, 2009, and earned $ 77.3 million in its opening weekend.
