BEIJING, CHINA - Half of all new construction in the world will take place in China for the next 10 to 15 years. Market analysts report that China will be the world's biggest construction market by 2018, at $ 2.4 trillion - 19.1% of global construction output. China's target is to be achieved 50% energy-efficient rate by 2010 for buildings in all cities and towns. By 2020, 65% of the buildings in those areas are expected to be energy-efficient. Greening responded this construction is a tremendous challenge and opportunity.

The pace of development can still be seen and felt on the ground in the juxtaposition of old methods and new technology. Bamboo scaffolding spans between steel super-structures, and hand carts weave their way through tower crane supports. Construction sites turn into archaeological digs has development sites in the historic centers of ancient cultures, now the epicenters of modernizing cities.
