Shy Drager Disease

Shy Dräger disease was first explained in 1960 by Dr. Milton Shy and Dr. Glen Draeger. This disease starts degenerating Autonomic and central nervous system. Here are the symptoms of the disease that will let the person know about the existence of this disease in him.
1. Orthostatic hypotension: this symptom represents the failure of the Autonomic nervous system. There is a variety of the reflex that occurs when the Postural Changes are made in the form of rise in blood pressure. Blood flows as a result of gravity to the legs but this flow of blood towards brain is conserved resulting Autonomic Nervous Breakdown.
2. Parkinson's Disease: this represents the trembling in the patient.
3. Anhidrosis: sweet glands start losing its functions on the lack in the functioning of the Autonomic nervous system.
4. Erectile dysfunction: erection is related to disfunctioning of Autonomic nervous system.
5. Alterations of muscle tone: muscle becomes stiff and this made this like Parkinson's syndrome.
6. Progressive Dementia: this occurs after the degeneration of the central nervous system.
This disease was first thought To Have association with the Parkinson's like syndrome later on it was related to Syndromes Multiple System Atrophy (MSA).
The treatment of this disease is still not known. But its treatment relates to the treatment of the symptoms.
According to the American Autonomic Society and the American Academy of Neurology Shy and Draeger describing the syndrome have now forms the part of a bigger entity called as Multiple System Atrophy.
MSA is the degeneration of the nerve cells in various parts of the brain. This causes problems in the activities like bladder control, movement and balance of the body. This disease occurs in men and typically in the age of 50's and 60's. It is a disease that occurs in 444.6 persons out of every 100,000.
