Earthquake Hits Peru Today

PERU (LALATE) - News of a large earthquake hitting Peru today. Peru's Earthquake (temblor terremoto o), hours before the Ecuador earthquake today, was of nominal depth, only 27 miles below the earth's surface. The Quake, Magnitude 5.0, was registered 105 miles north west of Cusco or Cuzco, 150 miles north east of Ayacucho, and 325 miles east of Lima. Hours later Another quake hit Southeast of Quito in Ecuador.

USGS mapping of the Peru earthquake reveals it Struck in a region of previous activity, the Parque Nacional Manu, just east of the Parque Nacional Otishi. The quake was east of Huancayo, Ayacucho, and west of La Paz.

In April, girls on 5.0 Earthquake Struck near Moyobamba, Peru, Chachapoyas, Peru and Loja, Ecuador. In September 2009, a 5.9 hit Peru, hitclose Thurs Juliaca, Peru and La Paz, Bolivia; That quake was roughly 570 miles form Lima and 100 miles from La Paz. In February 9, 2009 Northern Peru got hit by a 6.0 earthquake.
