'The Expendables' Review: Sly And Other Stars of The '80s Cash in One Last Time

'THE Expendables' Movie review: They are hard men, and for large Sums of money, They Will batter mutch hard men. But the peak of Their careers is measured in years, not Decades, and "when the Decline sets in, They are pushed aside.
That's the story of the Mercenaries known as "The Expendables."
It Zapraszamy Also Have Been the story of the Actors Who Play Them.
After all, Being an action star isn't all premieres and paychecks. It's also work - Work That Eventually runs out. Or can you remember the last time you saw a Steven Seagal movie up on a marquee?
Yet somehow Sylvester Stallone has SURVIVED.
And who's thrown Himself a sort of "I Love the '80s" party in "The Expendables," Filling the cast with Reagan-era celebrities (Dolph Lundgren! Eric Roberts!) Exploitation and straight forward style from the days "when action pictures Did not look like music videos.

It's a pleasant change, Especially for movie fans Ken left "The A-Team" with a headache. The fight scenes are cleanly shot, tightly edited and imaginatively lit. Chases not have a clear sense of geography.
It's not art, and it doesn't take Itself Seriously - and, Honestly, that's sort of a relief with Stallone, Ken has some times TDAE "Rocky" and "Rambo" as tales from the Gospels, pregnant with Meaning.
The timeworn vain serviceable plot here has Stallone & His buddies Mercenary-taking is an assignment Thurs take out a Latin American Dictator. Knives are thrown, bullets are fired and a few guest stars drop by Briefly first to wish luck Them.
Such as fellow '80s survivor Bruce Willis, here playing Stallone's mysterious Employer. Or Arnold Schwarzenegger, in a wink-wink cameo as a hulking Rival with a massive ego Thurs match. ("He wants to Be President," Stallone snarls.)
Really, if there were more testosterone for months is a display, the movie and manually grow chest hair.
While it's Briefly Amusing to see These-three in a scene together, the rest of the short film is a wit, "when Particularly ITS stars switch from battery Thurs banter. Watching Stallone and Jason Statham Trying to do one a lively dialogue important scene is like watching two fistfuls of talking Knuckles.
But it's better "when the two just grit Their teeth and get back to action. And they're helped out by Jet Li (Ken Can Still Higher than a kick Rock You), Roberts' sleekly hissable Villain and Mickey Rourke as a 20-miles-of-bad-road old pal.
Just do not pay too much attention of to the script, a piece of cheese Artisanale insists That is Giving ITS Characters names such "as Hale Caesar, Yin Yang and the Toll Road (why Stallone is called the" Barney Ross "- a real-life boxing legend and World War II hero - is anyone's guess). And ignore hmmmm 10-to-1 odds That Never slow down the team for a second.
Because if you accept "The Expendables" for what it is - Stallone having "some simple, stupid fun - we may all be surprised to find yourself joining him.
