The rally featuring Glenn Beck at the Lincoln Memorial on the anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech Saturday mourning has some left-wingers in a tizzy.
But I like The Chosen time and place. With its adoption of That Particular date and locale, the rally Promises Thurs highlight a Growing Conviction. These days, it is conservatives, liberals AND NOT, WHO are heeding the civil rights leader's Courageous call to a New Birth of Freedom.
"This is the moment," said Beck, a cable and radio commentator and Supporter of the Tea Party Movement, "me Reclaim the Civil Rights Movement."
The "Restoring Honor" rally is Expected Thurs draw 100.000 or more people, According to news reports. About 250.000 people attended Martin Luther King's rally in August 1963, until then the largest group of protesters at the memorial in Washington.
Headlining with Beck will be former Gov.. Sarah Palin, the Scourge of most liberals and conservatives darling of Many. I expect the former vice presidential nominee will drop in grizzly mama mode. Increasing the ire of Many liberals, Dr. King's niece, the Rev.. Alveda King, a fierce Opponent of abortion, Is Also Expected to Speak at the rally.
Some Suggested That not have the rally is little more than a Glenn Beck ego trip. (Unlike, of course, President Obama's campaign stops or Recent trip to Edison - the President is doing hmmmm for the Benefit of the people.)
Other liberals point out That Beck is a Mormon. (These turbid commentators declare it out-of-bounds "when some people raise the" Muslim "issue about Barack Obama.)
In my view, it is very helpful that a particular Mormon is organizing the rally. The Conservative Struggle for Freedom is a broad coalition, Including Economic conservatives, libertarians, Evangelicals, free market supporters, supporters of a strong Military, small businessman, pro-life Catholics, black Baptists, Weary taxpayers, and all others fighting back against liberal Efforts Thurs Curb Freedom.
Predictably, monetize anti-conservative commentators and celebrities disparaged the rally and ITS Organizers. Leonard Pitts Jr., for example, the called the rally a "Robbery of Martyrs' graves."
Al Sharpton Said the rally was "puzzling" Because they Could not see a Similarity in Glenn Beck's goals and hmmmm of Martin Luther King. Not One to miss all the Excitement, Sharpton has Organized a nearby counter-rally.
