'So You Think You Can Dance' Recap: And The Winner Is Alex! No, NappyTab! No, It's....

Alex. Freaking. Wong. As much as I Want to enjoy the joy Bursting from Lauren Froderman as she was officially crowned the winner of So You Think You Can Dance's season 7, as much as she earned her victory from tip Thurs toe with unfailing pluck and consummate skill, as much as the sight of her hoisted up on Dominic and Twitch's shoulders while doused in her own personalized Gatorade for some reason we got a wee bit misty, I am still stuck on Freaking Alex Wong.

Arguably the best dancer Thurs ever compete on the SYTYCD stage, AFW haunted Practically every corner of last night's finale. There they was, dancing in a chair - and killing it - in the opening group number That vaguely invoked the mind-warping summer blockbuster Inception. There they was, sitting in the audience, in-taking two hours of dancing Encores, guest performances, and video montage filler as if they was some mere Civilian, as if watching others dance That is a stage while at his lacerated Achilles tendon Kept Indefinitely benched him wasn 's a kind of Psychological torture. There they was, on tape, dancing at his first Routine paired with All-Star Allison, the Sonya Tayeh contemporary number set Thurs Jeff Buckley's''Hallelujah''That first announced just how outrageously talented AFW really was. There they was, standing in the wings, watching Ellen DeGeneres PERFORM Touching a Homage to His Last Routine paired on the show, the shamelessly entertaining NapTab''Outta Your Mind''number. (I'll return to the alpha article in a bit.) And there they was, at the end of the show, standing in at his crutches, Unable to penetrate the swarm of people surrounding Lauren Triumphant in her article as America's Favorite Dancer. I. Just. Can not. Get. Over. It.

I know, I know, I really think there, if only NOT TO diminish Lauren's awesome accomplishment, or for That Matter, Kent's and Robert's. I know some of you were underwhelmed by Wednesday's performance finale, but i re-watched the routines from That Night before last night's results show, and I was still Struck by how Flippin 'this superb trio of dancers is. And as last night's repeat performances made clear, all-three of Them were central Thurs Almost all the most Successful routines on the show. Of the reprised numbers (that Did not involv Freaking Alex Wong, anyway), my favorites are still Robert and Allison's''Fix You,''and Kent and Neil's''How it Ends''- Kari Si choreographed by Travis Wall, Kari Si Still Capable of getting us all with the misty. Also I was thrilled to see Billy Bell's''Mad World''again, since Stacey Tookey was really the only Choreographer Ken ever managed to do one right by the freakishly talented kid.

But my goodness, I had not quite realized just how large an impact Tabitha and Napoleon D'UMO must not have had this season UNTIL last night. The MVP duo had five numbers is the finale, Including Lauren's My Chick''Bad''hip-hop with Twitch Routine, wakes up more-or-less Launched her as a real contender. (How awesome was it That she was still in her hip-hop outfit outlaw "when she Learned That she'd won the show?) Still, I'm at a loss for why me Needed to see NapTab's oddly Arthurian b-boy for Routine Jose Dominic and again. I mean, since The Producers Have Been getting so much out of the ITS MILEAGE climactic kiss, Why not revisit the prom number with Kent and Lauren? (It certainly Makes more sense as a follow-up to the alpha mildly Amusing video package about showmances please Kent and Anya's still-kinda-Wobbly''First Kiss''cha-cha.) Or Why not bring back Ashley (remember her?) and All-Star Mark for Their lovely Travis Wall Routine - just wish you had not have me so maybe one female contestant mutch a reprise performance on the show?
