Glow Santa Monica 2010

Tonight from 7 pm Until 3 am the Glow in Santa Monica is happening. The Glow is an all-night-cultural experience. The glow features original works by artists That re-imagine the Santa Monica Beach as a playground for thoughtful and participatory temporary artworks.

The first Gloww Came Thurs Santa Monica in 2008 and was a huge success. The biannual event features the work of international, national and local artists and goes from dawn dust Thurs. The Event is Taking Place at Santa Monica beach.

The Objective is to Create artwork DURING the event. The artists were selected and are paid for the art That They create. The audience is invited Thurs participate.

Twenty original artworks are being commissioned for the Glow, 2010. Artists include the Following Internationally Known Artists: Anne Bray (Los Angeles), Celeste Boursier-Mougenot (Sete, France), Rafael Lozano-Hemmer (Montréal, Canada), Yoshua Okon (Mexico City) and Steve Roden (Los Angeles).

Prior to the Glow, an open call to artist in Los Angeles County Which was Held from fifteen local artists were selected.

The First Glow attracted about 200.000 visitors and it is the 2010 EE That Glow Will Surpass That number.

Glow is a Production of the City of Santa Monica and the Santa Monica Arts Foundation.

Similar event are Known from cities like Paris, Toronto, Montreal, Rome, Brussels and Madrid.

Here an example of what will be created:

A Lifeguard Tower will be submersed in the foam. That there are cameras monitor a parking lot and give signals to the foam machines. The foam will be Also resembling the Tide by coming and going.

Another object art, created by electronic artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Will Be Two sandboxes in Which the small images of visitors are displayed. Once visitors REACH Into the Boxes with Their hands, the images of the hands are displayed by huge Projectors on the beach.

Admission to the Glow in Santa Monica 2010 event is free.
