Justin Townes Earle Arrested In Indianapolis

Singer-songwriter Justin Townes Earle was arrested Thursday night (September 16) following his concert in Indianapolis.

The son of Steve Earle and stepson of Allison Moorer was charged with battery, public intoxication and resisting law enforcement. According to Undercover, Justin became belligerent after being heckled by audience members during his gig at Radio Radio. A fan in attendance yelled for the singer to play 'Freebird,' to which Justin reportedly replied, "F--- 'Freebird' ... I hate Lynyrd Skynyrd."

Later on during his set, when another crowd member asked Justin to take off his shirt, he declined the request. Soon after, another attendee tossed a shirt at the singer which landed on his guitar, causing another explicit reply from Justin as he exited the stage.

Following his set, Justin reportedly trashed his dressing room at the venue, destroyed equipment backstage, and punched the club owner's daughter. Radio Radio pressed charges for assault and battery, and fined the singer $200.

Justin spent the night in the local jail, forcing him to miss a Louisville radio appearance the next day. Justin took to his Twitter page after being released from jail, apologizing to his fans by tweeting, "Sorry for missing radio Louisville. I was in jail! Making the show at headliners though. Free again!!!" A little over an hour later, he again tweeted out, "Oh and Radio Radio in Indy and all its staff can kiss my f---ing a--!"

Last year, Justin received an Americana Music Award for Emerging Artist of the Year. Earlier this year the singer released his fourth album, 'Harlem River Blues.'

Justin's court date for the recent arrest is scheduled for October 19 in Indianapolis.
