For the third year in a row, Bishop Timon-St. Jude hosted the teddy bear toss game at Caz Ice Rink in South Buffalo.
And for the third year in a row Clarence High School was the team Opposing the Tigers.
While the scoreboard said the Tigers lost, 8-4, everybody was a winner as more than 250 teddy bears, and one big red hippo, was collected for charity.
All the stuffed animals go to those in need during this holiday season.
For Timon captain Justin LaRusch being part of this game is something really special.
"It's amazing," said LaRusch. "Especially for the community to come out and watch us. It just stinks that we are losing right now. "
The losing a bond for the community Thurs brave the elements were that Monday is something special.
More than 250 people jammed Caz Ice Rink is a snowy, icy, night to watch their team and to Give back to those less fortunate.
To see the South Buffalo community support an event like is truly remarkable.
"It's just amazing to see all these people come out just for one event," LaRusch said. "It's good, real good."
In its three years, the event has collected close to 1.500 teddy bears.
As for the game, a five-goal outburst by Clarence in the third period gave the Red Devils a 8-4 win.
Scoring for the Tigers were LaRusch, Quinn Danahy, Patrick Goodspeed and Zachary Evancho. Dan Fulton got the start in goal and took the loss.
The Tigers are back in action Sunday when they take on West Seneca West at 1 pm at the Buffalo State College Ice Arena.
